“I am not lazy, I am just highly motivated to do nothing.”


Well I often wonder; do I also belong to this category? And the answer is a big  YES.

But to my content, I am not alone in this world. I have a major sect of population who are happily  a part of this elite group. Yes, I am lazy, unashamedly lazy. And I am trying hard to get out of this comfort zone. Success is slow but will eventually be mine in this sphere, is something I am confident of.


Talking About The Literal Meaning of Being Lazy.


If we look at the literal meaning of being lazy, it will be – “not wanting to work/ move slowly or without much energy”. We have many thinkers amongst us, but we lack people who put those thoughts into action. And the handful that actually do, become success stories we all lazy people love reading through.


Being Lazy Leads to Self Destruction?


The bitter truth is, we must stop being lazy. It’s the single point of self-destruction. Laziness in a person causes all the zeal and zest to excel in life die a slow death. It’s like softly killing yourself. I firmly believe that we all have come in this world to fulfil a purpose.

We all are striving to attain something in life. And being lazy is a big hindrance in that. We know the root cause, the solution is available to us, we just have to walk the path. If you have to quit anything, quit being lazy, quit making excuses, and quit waiting for the right time to come.


Ways That Can Help You To Stop Being Lazy.


  • Hard work is the only key to success.


Luck can help us, but there is no substitute for hard work. One must move out of the comfort zone that is so alluring to us humans. Working hard and working smart will help us to attain our set goals in life. A lazy mind will try to pull us back, but we must set ourselves free from the chains within. Do something today that your future self will thank you for.


Set attainable goals.


The hardest thing is to get started. Once a work is done on a continuous basis for 21 days, it becomes a habit. So, the main thing that we must strive for is to get started and  continue it for a short period. To stop being lazy we must reduce the inner resistance, close our ears to the forces that echoes us to stop working.

Small steps like.

-running or jogging or doing any strenuous physical activity for say 5 mins

  • -cleaning your cluttered cupboard and bookshelf for say 4 mins
  • -doing the dishes (even your own only would do you enough good) would immensely help. The path is tough but as the saying goes,

Tough times don’t last, Tough people do.


  • Our easy to go escape routes.

  • We all have our small tiny winy escape paths. Television, gaming consoles, Facebook, Instagram, chatting with friends, are all our stress busters. Well, if used productively they act as real stress relaxant. But if used excessively they hamper the work schedule. They become  hazardous to one’s work and health both. To beat the laziness in you, one must avoid using them. Not only are they addictive but also kill productivity in us. Stay away from them for some time. Eventually, a habit will be developed.
  • It’s ok to fail.

  • Fear of failure generally holds back people to perform the task in the first place. The laziness increases manifold when a person visualizes that he may fail in the end. So, a lazy person stops working in the direction which may not yield any success to him. A lazy person needs to realise that he has to push himself as no one else is going to do it for him. Let yourself be free, let yourself fall, stumble upon, one will rise high and shine bright only when you rise from the ashes.
  • Live your laziness to the fullest.

  • Give a child lots of chocolates. He will eat some, and then get bored of it. Will leave the rest to be consumed by someone else as he has satiated his desire, if not hunger. Same happens with lazy people. Let them have their “me time” in their comfort zone. They will eventually try to accumulate their energy to move out of it. Small daily improvements are the key to long term results.

It’s easy and fun to say that “I can’t reach it” or that “I don’t need it”. Quotes like “I’m not lazy, I’m just on power saving mode” make people smile and laugh at the same time. But, the harsh reality is that a lazy person is ruining his or her life. Laziness has done no good to anyone. Be smart, be active, that’s what life is all about.
